PAX!
Renewing our faith in the Risen Christ, in whom we place our certainty and hope, we announce with emotion and gratitude that on March 9th, 2025, at 3:30 a.m. (local time), at the Saint Matteo Polyclinic Hospital in Pavia / Italy, the heavenly Spouse welcomed into his arms:
SISTER MARIA PAOLA MAGUGLIANI
Province Giustina and Maria Schiapparoli
with 71 years old and 41 years of Religious Profession
Sister Paola was born in Corbetta (Milan / Italy), on May 13th, 1953. A helpful and active person, Sister Paola, in her youth, was part of the scout group of Corbetta and attended the parish oratory, then run by the Benedictine Sisters of Divine Providence. Before joining the Congregation, she worked as a principal at a school near Corbetta and at the parish kindergarten, run by the Benedictine Sisters of Divine Providence.
At the age of 28, after an experience with the girls welcomed in the home of Camporeale, in Sicily, and after a serious vocational discernment, she decided to consecrate herself to the Lord for the rest of her life.
She entered the Congregation on March 21st, 1981, in Voghera, received by Sr. Teodolina Piacenza, then local Superior of the Mother House. At the time, Mother Carla Borasi was the Superior General.
On March 21st, 1982, she entered the novitiate in Voghera and her mistress was Sr. Chiarina Nebbiolo. She made her Religious Profession on March 25th, 1984, together with Sr. Lina Maria Girotto, in the hands of Sr. Nazarena Bagna, then Provincial Superior.
Sr. Paola has always been a true Benedictine, for her tenderness in welcoming, assisting and educating the children and girls in difficulty who were in the Home and the Holy Family School in Voghera.
In fact, the home still breathes silence, kindness and the embrace of a loving presence, like a true mother who accompanied with wisdom and love the physical, moral and intellectual development of those she cared for. Her precious presence full of tenderness was entirely given to others; unfortunately, however, her great altruism led her to forget about herself and her health.
She was the strong and courageous woman we find in Sacred Scripture, who knew how to risk her life for the good of others. Only those who knew her will be able to understand the greatness of her immense maternal heart. In fact, just yesterday, full of pain, she asked us: “But how are you?”
Sister Paola had a great missionary spirit. She was concerned about the progress of the missions and carried out projects to meet the various needs of our missions ad gentes.
Today Sister Paola leaves a legacy of faith, trust in Divine Providence and abandonment to the will of God. She undoubtedly left traces of the life of Christ in her followers, who listened willingly to her teachings.
Lately, her physical condition worsened, forcing her to experience moments of great pain. In the silence of the night between March 8th and 9th, at 3:30 a.m., the Lord Jesus took her with Him!
The Province of Giustina and Maria Schiapparoli has lost its Provincial Superior, Sr. Paola, who is still in full activity, leaving an insurmountable void, but her testimony will remain in everyone’s hearts.
A teacher at the Vinçenc Prendushi School in Durres, ALBANIA, said:
“I am very sorry to hear this sad news. I still have her tenderness and calm before my eyes. May the Lord welcome her into heaven.”
The Paruzzaro Nursing Home also wants to share its words:
“On behalf of all the staff working at the RSA Villa San Benedetto – Paruzzaro, I would like to express our closeness in the grief of the loss of the Provincial Superior, Sr. Paola. For the Sisters, she was a MOTHER, a guide, she gave them serenity and comfort.”
Dear Sister Paola, you are now with the Lord. Intercede for your Province, for the Congregation, for the children, your treasures, for the Holy Family School…! Your mission now continues in Heaven!
Thank you! For your testimony!
The funeral will take place on Wednesday, March 12th, 2025, at 9:30 a.m., at the main church of Voghera and the body will be buried in the cemetery of Voghera.
In communion of prayer, united with all the Sisters of the Province of Giustina and Maria Schiapparoli, with Sister Daniela and her nephews Gionata and Tommaso, with their families, friends, teachers, students, parents and children of the Welcome House, we entrust this Sister of ours into the arms of Providence.
“Father, I offer you my joy as a song of praise, my life so that you may do your will”
(from the remembers card of her perpetual profession)
REST IN THE PEACE OF THE LORD!
Sister Maria das Dores Paz – General Secretary
